Favorite Kitchen Things: PL8 Magnetic Spoons

PL8 Magnetic Spoons - ButterYum

The busy baking season is quickly approaching so I thought I'd take the opportunity to share with you a product I reach for time and time again - PL8 Magnetic Measuring Spoons.  Why do I like them so much?

These spoons are double ended so it's like having 2 sets of measuring spoons in one.  If you use one side to measure a teaspoon of vanilla extract, the other side is dry and ready to measure a teaspoon of baking soda.

Both sides of the spoons have flat bottoms so they can rest on the counter without tipping.

See - no spills.

And my absolute favorite thing about this set is that they magnetically nest together for neat storage.  Love.

Corn on the Cob Hack

Corn on the Cob Hack - ButterYum

Love fresh corn on the cob, but hate all the annoying silk strands that are almost impossible to remove?  Well I have the best tip to share with you today.  I don't know where this kitchen hack has been my whole life, but I absolutely love it.

Simply microwave an unshucked ear of corn for about 5 minutes.

Be careful - it'll be very hot.

Carefully cut all the way through the cob, about 1/2-inch from the stem end.

The grab the silk end of the shuck and gently shake the cob right out.

There you go.  Perfectly shucked corn without a single silk in sight.  Perfect every time.
